An application's priority – in terms of the allocated points, awards and banding – are all used to determine its position within an allocation list relative to other applications, assessed against the criteria set for the list. Applications on a waiting list may also be assigned priority based on the date the application was first received, or when the application was made live e.g. following verification of all information included on the form. This choice of preferred rank date can be linked to the application and then used to control the priority sort order. A change of band is commonly applied in conjunction with the rank date in order to ensure that applicants who have been in a band for the longest period of time are processed first. A detailed analysis of the latest application status can be conducted through the individual applicant's record, including the historically awarded priorities, current list membership and specific needs. Any identified amendments can then be readily applied to reflect the latest situation. For instance, an application can easily be included on an additional allocation list, as deemed relevant. It is also possible to add and update the needs of the applicant, as well as adjust the default points score for allocated priorities (where the override option has been configured for the priority type record).
