Asbestos configuration management overview

Parent Previous Next

A number of contributory settings need to be defined in order to streamline daily activities, functions and processes that are all focused around robust asbestos management. These configuration components enable the housing organisation to customise specific parameters and modes of operation in line with their own procedures and statutory requirements, as detailed below:

Location Mapping - When conducting an asbestos management survey and recording the findings within an assessment record, the whereabouts of each instance is pinpointed using three hierarchical elements: Level, Room and Location.

Asbestos Templates - The construction layout of properties within the housing stock will be broadly consistent across similar localities, or where the assets exhibit matching characteristics, and such information can inform the creation of location mapping structures, choosing frameworks that transcend equivalent properties.

Material Assessment Factors - Through the management survey, contributory factors leading to identified asbestos products potentially releasing dangerous fibres into the air are all given weighted scores, quantifying the overall risk in each instance.

Priority Assessment Factors - In support of the material score, a supplementary priority assessment quantifies the likelihood of the asbestos being disturbed and therefore exposing someone to hazardous risk.

Risk Matrix - The configuration of colour-coded risk levels provide visual reinforcement to a calculated risk assessment score (the combined material assessment and priority assessment weightings).
