Asbestos location maintenance overview

Parent Previous Next

The use of all forms of asbestos in domestic buildings was not prohibited until 1999 and therefore Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) may be present in many locations within social housing stock. Some of the most common situations where these materials were employed include airing cupboards, bath panels (or similar) and heating systems. When conducting an asbestos management survey and recording the findings within an assessment record, the whereabouts of each instance is pinpointed using three hierarchical elements: Level (capturing the storey of the building on which the asbestos material was discovered), Room and Location (the specific area where the ACM resides). This parameterised structure can be defined within the 'locations configuration' form.
