Materials scoring maintenance overview

The material assessment aspect of the management survey seeks to establish the risk of each identified asbestos product releasing asbestos fibres into the air. The assessment looks at the product type, the extent of damage to that material, the surface treatment and what asbestos type or asbestos fibre has been identified. These contributory factors are all given weighted scores that quantify the overall risk for each instance, and then added together to return a result ranging between 2 and 12 (the higher the number the more pronounced the risk). The Configuration Materials Scoring form facilitates the creation of these different variables, enabling the nature and condition of the identified ACMs to be categorised, as well as their level of encapsulation.
