To remove all criteria from the campaign segment

Parent Previous Next

Where the criteria used to deliver a specific cohort of contacts - the campaign segment - needs to be amended, the breadth of required changes is an effective guide in determining whether to edit the existing statements or simply to start from scratch. The option to remove all existing criteria can often be easier than applying significant changes to legacy statements, particularly if the end user tasked with applying these changes did not devise the original rules i.e. it is more likely to achieve the desired outcome. Similarly, where a SQL stored procedure is to be employed instead of the original criteria algorithm, the removal of the redundant rules is therefore a straightforward first step in the process.

The procedure to remove all criteria from the campaign segment is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > Campaigns > Configuration > Segment Configuration. The Segment window is displayed.
  2. Select a campaign segment from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Contact Segments field. By default the list is filtered to show Current campaign segments. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All 1.
  3. Click on Remove Criteria 2. The end user is asked to affirm the operation and the statement algorithm is removed from the Segment Criteria field.
  4. Click on Segment Criteria to devise alternative statement rules that will control the target audience for the segment. This requisite step is covered separately in the topic To define the campaign segment criteria.
  5. Alternatively, enter the name of a specific stored procedure devised to return the required contact subset in the Advanced SQL field 3.
  6. Click on Save 4.

Note

1 The Search Contact Segments field will match against any element of the description.

2 This option is only active for campaign segments where statement rules have already been created.

3 More complex expressions can be captured within a SQL stored procedure and linked to the campaign segment using the Advanced SQL field. Where a stored procedure has been linked to the segment, a criteria statement cannot also be employed, and vice versa.

4 System validation rules ensure that the record can only be saved once statement criteria rules have been created for the segment or a valid link exists to a stored procedure.
