The procedure to create a new asbestos register entry for an asset is as follows:
- Using the global search facility, type in the first few characters of the asset address

- Double-click on the row containing the exact record match. Where the expected record is not listed, a more advanced search can be conducted using the spy-glass icon (
).
- Click on Asset Details. The Asset Details window is displayed for the current asset.
- Click on Asbestos
1. The Asbestos tab is activated.
- Click on New. The New Asbestos window is displayed.
- Enter the Assessed on date using the calendar icon (
) or type in the value directly i.e. the date on which the audit was conducted, uncovering the specific Asbestos Containing Material (ACM)

- Enter the Review date using the calendar icon (
) or type in the value directly i.e. the future date on which the asbestos register entry will be reviewed.
- Using the Assessed by drop-down field, select the professional consultant who examined the property for the presence of asbestos.
- Using the Assessment type drop-down field, select a parameter value to reflect the level and extent of the asbestos survey conducted on the property e.g. Management Survey, Refurbishment Survey, Pre-Demolition Survey, etc.
- Using the Level drop-down field, select a parameter value to capture the storey of the building on which the asbestos material was discovered.
- Using the Room drop-down field, select a parameter value to capture the room in which the asbestos material was discovered.
- Using the Location drop-down field, select a parameter value to pinpoint the specific area in which the asbestos material was discovered.
- Using the Product type drop-down field, select a parameter value to categorise the building fabric in which the asbestos material was discovered.
- Using the Extent drop-down field, select a parameter value to qualify the amount of asbestos material discovered.
- Using the Unit type drop-down field, select an appropriate measurement parameter based on the amount of asbestos material discovered e.g. Cubic Metre, Linear Metre, etc.
- Enter the Quantity value into the field provided i.e. the Unit type measurement multiplier
3. The Up and Down arrows are available to increment or decrement the value, as required.
- Using the Damage drop-down field, select a parameter value to capture the asbestos-containing material's current state of repair.
- Using the Surface treatment drop-down field, select a parameter value to capture the existing covering applied to the asbestos material e.g. Plastics, Resins, Unsealed Lagging, etc.
- Enter a unique identification number for the asbestos register entry into the Assessment reference field provided.
- Using the Status drop-down field, select a parameter value to reflect the current analysis stage of the suspect material e.g. Asbestos Confirmed, Asbestos Presumed, etc.
- Using the Action drop-down field, select a parameter value to capture the recommendations of the risk assessment.
- Use the Notes field to add contextual information in support of the asbestos register entry e.g. reflecting instances of data cloning, where there is sufficient supporting evidence of consistent building practices across the housing stock and the presence (or absence) of asbestos has been assumed.
- Click on Save
4. The new register entry is displayed in the Asbestos summary table

1 Use the Left (
) and Right (
) scrolling arrows to reveal additional tabs that might be hidden from view.
Note
1 The search facility will return all possible matches for any corresponding address field once the Number of characters before an automatic search commences system preference is reached.
2 The permitted date entry format is DD/MM/YY or DD/MM/YYYY.
3 By way of example, if 3 square metres of asbestos material was discovered, a Quantity of '3' would be inserted, coinciding with a Unit type of 'Square Metre'.
4 A Risk assessment category is automatically assigned to the register entry based on the recorded condition of the asbestos-containing material, indicating the potential for exposure to its harmful fibres.
5 To amend the details of an existing register entry, expand a location heading using the adjacent level pointer icon (
), double-click on the desired row and apply the required changes.
