A specific Energy related question can be inserted against an entity record, along with the underlying lookup, string or integer data type used to control the permitted field values. An equivalent action - Delete Energy - can be employed to remove existing questions that meet certain criteria e.g. a specific value, a range of values or, more broadly, any value.
The procedure to define an energy action for a data update rule is as follows:
- Prerequisite procedural steps are covered separately in the topic To add an action to a data update rule. Refer to these before proceeding to step 2.
- With the Add Energy rule type displayed, select the relevant Category from the drop-down field i.e. the prescribed focus area used in the energy performance calculation process, such as Age and Roofs, Walls and Floors, Space Heating, etc.
- Select the relevant energy-related Question and, where applicable, property Extension area using the corresponding drop-down fields.
- Enter the matching Answer value into the field provided, with the response format dictated by the selected question i.e. Date Only, Decimal, Integer, Lookup, Text, True or False, etc.
- Click on Save. The new entry is appended to the data update rule, within the hierarchical Energy heading structure
1.
Note
1 The matching counterpart - Delete Energy - can be defined in a similar way, identifying the specific Category, Question, Extension (where applicable) and Answer combination that will be removed from the targeted energy assessment upon executing the data update rule.
