To define an attribute action for a data update rule

Parent Previous Next

Configured within a data update rule, a new Attribute can be ascribed dynamically to an entity record, with the option to incorporate completed work and survey data as part of the rule outcome i.e. indicating that the new attribute has arisen through completed work activities. The counterpart action - Delete Attribute - controls the removal of such items, along with the associated warranty cover and linked tenant refusal instances.

The procedure to define an attribute action for a data update rule is as follows:

  1. Prerequisite procedural steps are covered separately in the topic To add an action to a data update rule. Refer to these before proceeding to step 2.
  2. With the Add Attribute rule type displayed, select the overarching Component from the drop-down field i.e. the specific focus area of the stock condition data.
  3. Using the Attribute drop-down field, select the specific stock condition attribute that will be ascribed dynamically to an entity record via this data update rule 1.
  4. Using the Effective period type drop-down field, select the timeframe unit applicable to this attribute i.e. Month, Quarter or Year.
  5. Enter the Effective period value into the field provided i.e. the Effective period type unit multiplier 2. The Up and Down arrows are available to increment or decrement the value, as required.
  6. Where the attribute will be automatically classified as completed work, activate the Set as completed work tick box provided.
  7. Activate the Update survey information tick box provided, where applicable, to ensure that the new attribute will be reflected in survey data.
  8. Click on Save. The new entry is appended to the data update rule, within the hierarchical component structure 3.

Note

1 Only those attributes that are linked to the selected component within the overall elemental structure will be available for selection.

2 The resulting timeframe - calculated in months, quarters or years - determines the activation date for the attribute, projected forward from the execution date of the data update rule.

3 The matching counterpart - Delete Attribute - can be defined in a similar way, electing to Remove warranties and Remove tenancy refusals that are associated with the existing attribute, as appropriate.
