To create a new asbestos control action

Parent Previous Next

The type of Asbestos Containing Material (ACM), the amount discovered and also its condition will determine its potential to release dangerous fibres into the atmosphere, if disturbed. Such information will inform the next steps that should be taken, ranging from labelling right through to its controlled removal, and these specific actions can be created as a parameter list, with the opportunity to assign unique code identifiers that can be used to streamline internal reporting and analysis processes.

The procedure to create a new asbestos control action is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > Asbestos > Configuration > Configure General. The Configure General window is displayed.
  2. Click on New Action. The Add Action window is displayed.
  3. Enter a Description for the new asbestos control action into the field provided e.g. Removal, Encapsulation, Labelling, etc. 1.
  4. Use the Score field to assign a priority weighting to the control action. The Up and Down arrows are available to increment or decrement the value, as required.
  5. Use the Code field to abbreviate the asbestos control action, as a prerequisite for customised reporting layouts.
  6. Using the Companies drop-down field, multi-select all companies relevant to the operating boundaries of this asbestos control action, or choose the All option, as required 1.
  7. Choose an Effective from date for this asbestos control action i.e. the date on which it came into effect 2.
  8. Choose an Effective to date if the parameter is to be time bound; a blank field means the asbestos control action will be continually valid.
  9. Click on Save. The new parameter entry appears in the Action grid 3.

Tip

1 Where only a small number of parameter values are not required, activate the All tick box first and then deselect individual items from the full list, as appropriate; the All tick box will be automatically removed once an item is deselected.

Note

1 System validation rules ensure that the description entered for each asbestos control action is unique for the selected company within the effective period.

2 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.

3 The list position of the parameter is governed by the incrementally assigned Value.
