To complete the age and roofs section of an energy assessment report

The procedure to complete the age and roofs section of an energy assessment report is as follows:

  1. Prerequisite procedural steps are covered separately in the topic To create a new energy assessment report for an asset. Refer to these before proceeding to step 2 1.
  2. With the RdSAP Editor - Assessment Details section in current focus, click on Age and Roofs. The Age and Roofs section is launched, revealing within the editor pane all data capture fields pertinent to the Main building.
  3. Using the Age range drop-down field, select the year interval spanning the construction date of the property.
  4. Using the Construction type drop-down field, select the parameter value matching the roof fabric i.e. Flat, Pitched (Sloping Ceiling), Pitched (Slates or Tiles),etc. 2.
  5. Using the Insulation type drop-down field, select the specific insulation method adopted for the roof space i.e. Rafters, Joists, Flat Roof Insulation, etc.
  6. Enter the insulation Thickness (in millimetres) using the drop-down field.
  7. Where the thermal transmittance of the insulation material is known, set U-Value Known? to Yes and enter the figure into the adjacent field 3.
  8. Repeat steps 3 through 7 for all extensions that have been added onto the main property, as recorded in the General Details assessment category.
  9. Proceed to the next energy assessment category (e.g. Walls and Floors) by clicking on the corresponding action button 4.


Note

1 Only one energy assessment report can be effective for an individual property at any one time.

2 Where a further dwelling is situated above the property undergoing the assessment, additional options such as Another dwelling above or Same dwelling above are available for selection.

3 A low U-Value indicates a higher degree of thermal insulation.

4 All responses recorded in the current focus area will be saved automatically and the appropriate validation applied to determine whether an energy calculation can be conducted based on the populated fields.
