To close a homelessness case

The procedure to close a homelessness case is as follows:

  1. Using the Advanced search spy-glass (), select Homelessness Case as the Search for and Search by category, and enter the Case ID as the search criteria 1.
  2. With the Results tab in current focus, double-click on the row containing the exact record match, or return to the Criteria tab and refine the search filters. The Homelessness Case Details window is displayed.
  3. With the Summary tab in current focus, click on Case Actions. The Case Actions window is displayed.
  4. Using the Select action drop-down field, select the specific status progression value of Close Case 2.
  5. Click on Next. The Close Case window is displayed, ready to complete all fields pertinent to the formal closure of the homelessness case, including a range of region-specific responses that will be automatically triggered during the standard workflow. A number of these fields are worthy of special note and are documented in the following steps.
  6. Where applicable, use the region-specific Homelessness prevented drop-down field to capture the outcome of the homelessness case at the point of closure i.e. Yes or No.
  7. Where applicable, use the region-specific Prevention outcome drop-down field to categorise the specific conclusion of the case, aligned to the contributory management activities e.g. Not Known, Other, Referred to Another LA, Remained in Existing Accommodation, Secured Alternative Accommodation (revealing the inter-related Alternative accommodation field, ready to capture the specific details).
  8. Where applicable, use the region-specific Main prevention activity drop-down field to identify the primary focus for securing the outcome.
  9. Where applicable, use the region-specific Closure reason drop-down field to qualify the circumstances surrounding the closure of the homelessness case.
  10. Use the Notes field to add contextual data in relation to the homelessness case being closed.
  11. Click on Save. The current status of the homelessness case is set to Closed, and the date and time of completion is reflected in the End date field 3.


Note

1 Additional search criteria may need to be employed (e.g. start and end date range, company, status, category) to ensure that the correct homelessness case is returned; an alternative Search by category of Contact or Contact Group may be selected to extend the available search fields.

2 This option is active only for homelessness cases that are currently in progress and all mandatory tasks, if any, have already been completed.

3 Any homelessness case closed in error may simply be reopened.
