To add a characteristic to an equipment refusal instance

Parent Previous Next

Where a tenant has refused equipment-related servicing visits, safety checks, or product recall works, the contextual background and extenuating circumstances can be defined in more detail using a series of custom characteristics. As a prerequisite, any number of characteristics can be defined against the Tenant Refusal entity, choosing the appropriate data type - Decimal, Integer, True or False, Text. etc. - that will govern the permitted response in each instance.

The procedure to add a characteristic to an equipment refusal instance is as follows:

  1. Using the global search facility, type in the first few characters of the asset address 1.
  2. With the results displayed in the Asset tab, double-click on the row containing the exact record match. Where the expected record is not listed, a more advanced search can be conducted using the spy-glass icon ().
  3. Click on Asset Details. The Asset Details window is displayed for the current asset.
  4. Click on Equipment Register 1. The Equipment Register tab is activated, revealing those Equipment items that are pertinent to the asset record in current focus, as displayed in the corresponding grid.
  5. Double-click on the row matching the equipment item against which a tenant refusal instance has been recorded.
  6. Scroll down to the Refusal grid and double-click on the relevant entry to capture the specific characteristics. The Tenant Refusal window is displayed.
  7. Click on New Characteristic. The Characteristic window is displayed.
  8. Using the Characteristic type drop-down field, select the desired parameter value to define more closely the nature of the equipment refusal e.g. History of refusal, Exceptional circumstances accepted, etc. 2.
  9. Use the Value field to enter a corresponding characteristic value in the format governed by the data type and associated criteria. For numeric responses, the Up and Down arrows are available to increment or decrement the value, as required.
  10. Choose an Effective from date for this record i.e. the date on which the equipment refusal characteristic came into effect 3.
  11. Choose an Effective to date if the refusal characteristic needs to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the details will be continually valid.
  12. Click on Save. The new Characteristic is added to the summary grid.
  13. Repeat steps 7 through 12 to add further characteristics to the equipment refusal instance.
  14. Click on Save.

Tip

1 Use the Left () and Right () scrolling arrows to reveal additional tabs that might be hidden from view.

Note

1 The search facility will return all possible matches for any corresponding address field once the Number of characters before an automatic search commences system preference is reached.

2 These custom values can be populated by the end user via the separate Configure Characteristics form.

3 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
