Systems administration overview

Many items of equipment located within a building do not operate in isolation but rather are regarded as a component of a larger installation, such as a smoke detector wired into a central fire alarm, or a boiler servicing the central heating. Such items can all be defined in the context of a 'system', and any number of equipment system classifications can be created on the database to suit the local setting. For each type of equipment system, a comprehensive breakdown of manufacturer-led maintenance tasks and safety checks can be captured using Schedule of Rates (SOR) codes, together with the associated costs.

Employing standardised SOR codes to inform the cyclical servicing programme of equipment systems ensures the accountable, auditable, and transparent undertaking of all regulatory obligations, whilst the analysis of costs reveals the true financial commitment in maintaining them to the required level.
