A warranty is a type of guarantee that a manufacturer or other provider offers in relation to the condition of its products, or the related equipment maintenance fulfilled through a servicing contract. A warranty map therefore brings together all related components of a contractor's obligations and level of cover across different replacement types.
The procedure to create a warranty map for a contractor is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Asset Management > Configuration > Configure Warranty Mapping. The Configure Warranty Mapping window is displayed.
- Click on New Mapping
1. All fields are activated ready for data entry.
- Using the Companies drop-down field, multi-select all companies relevant to the operating boundaries of this warranty map, or choose the All option, as required
1.
- Using the Warranty type drop-down field, select the desired parameter classification relevant to the warranty being offered e.g. Product Guarantee, Extended Warranty, Service Contract, etc.
2.
- Using the Contractor drop-down field, select the name of the contractor providing the warranty cover.
- Using the Replacement type drop-down field, multi-select the desired parameter classifications that are covered under the terms of the warranty, or choose the All option, as required
3.
- Using the Location drop-down field, multi-select all potential areas of installation where the warranty cover is applicable, or choose the All option, as required.
- Choose an Effective from date for this warranty map i.e. the date on which it came into effect
4.
- Choose an Effective to date if the warranty map is to be time bound; a blank field means the defined mapping will be continually valid.
- Click on Save. An entry reflecting the defined contractor mapping appears in the alphabetical list, underneath the assigned warranty type heading.
Tip
1 Where only a small number of parameter values are not required, activate the All tick box first and then deselect individual items from the full list, as appropriate; the All tick box will be automatically removed once an item is deselected.
Note
1 Upon first access, all fields are automatically activated ready for data entry; hence the New Mapping button is inactive.
2 These custom values can be populated by the end user via the system parameter entitled Warranty Type.
3 These custom values can be populated by the end user via the system parameter entitled Replacement Type.
4 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
