To uniquely identify each item of equipment held on the system, each new record can store the make, model, and serial number (or other such reference value) that are applicable - information that is used to establish the regular servicing requirements in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, confirm any recall notices, and also highlight other routine inspection checks.
The procedure to assign a model to an equipment type is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Equipment > Configuration > Configure Equipment. The Configure Equipment window is displayed.
- Expand the relevant group and equipment type headings from the hierarchical list before selecting an associated make, or enter its name into the Search for Equipment field. By default the list is filtered to show Current equipment types. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All
1.
- Click on New Model. The Equipment Type and Make fields are automatically populated with the respective records in current focus, and all adjacent fields are activated ready for data entry
2.
- Enter a description for the Model into the field provided, or use the spyglass (
) to locate an existing value.
- Enter the specific variant details into the Sub-Model field provided.
- Enter the Model reference (or serial) number into the field provided i.e. the unique code matching the exact product or component part.
- Choose an Effective from date for this new equipment model i.e. the date on which the variant came into effect
3.
- Choose an Effective to date if the equipment model is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the variant will be continually valid.
- Enter the Expected life (in years) of the model into the field provided. The Up and Down arrows are available to increment or decrement the value, as required.
- Click on Save. The new model variant appears underneath the relevant equipment group, type and make combination.
Note
1 The Search for Equipment field will match against any focus area included within the hierarchical equipment structure.
2 The pre-populated values can be adjusted, as required, in order to generate a model for a completely different equipment type.
3 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
