Payment cards are widely regarded by tenants as the simplest way to pay their rent, thus reducing the potential for arrears. With the allocation of a payment card, the tenant has access to potentially the broadest range of payment opportunities over the counter at registered PayPoint outlets and Post Offices nationally. For tenants that prefer the convenience of a 'pay as you go' approach, a payment card enables them to make cash payments as and when they want to in line with their agreed payment dates. Within Civica Cx Housing, a payment card is issued individually against an agreement account. However, any number of payment card requests can be combined for processing as a single XML (Extensible Markup Language) export file - at a frequency to suit the end user - and submitted directly to a third party provider for payment card creation. For each account, the output file contains key information about the account holder; once the resulting payment card is created, it is uniquely referenced back to the account, ready for payments to be credited against the balance.
